Sales Development Representative (US-Remote) Mentor
Join our community of over 3,000 OpenClassrooms mentors and coach our students throughout their distance learning.
Join OpenClassrooms as an experienced, high-performing Sales Professional Mentor to guide aspiring Sales Development Representatives (SDRs) through our comprehensive pre-apprenticeship (Skills Bootcamp) and Apprenticeship programs. This unique role is perfect for a sales expert passionate about coaching and prospecting fundamentals, offering a meaningful opportunity to shape careers and boost your own leadership skills. As a mentor, you'll be responsible for fostering critical skill development, ensuring successful project completion, and validating student progress through evaluations and debriefs.
Key Responsibilities
Mentorship: Accompany students with their training as you provide tailored guidance, constructive feedback, and exposure to challenging assignments to help students build core competencies and advance their careers.
Core Skill Development and Validation: Guide students in acquiring and refining essential Sales Development Representative (SDR) skills, including customer outreach, interaction, sales pipeline management, and product demonstration. Conduct debriefs to formally validate student learning and provide constructive feedback.
Project and Deliverable Mastery: Support apprentices through key projects—such as "Manage a Sales Pipeline with CRM Tools," "Handle Objections and Create Winning Outreach Campaigns," and "Prospect and Qualify High-Value Leads for Your Company"—while reviewing and providing feedback on diverse deliverables like personalized cold communications, CRM entries, product demo videos, and sales performance reports.
SDR Role and Sales Cycle Expertise: Possess and leverage a deep, hands-on understanding of the SDR role (prospecting, cold calling, social selling, and qualification frameworks like BANT/MEDDIC) to teach apprentices the day-to-day tasks and how their work fits into the broader end-to-end sales cycle. Mentors will need to role- play conversations with students to help them improve their skills in active listening, finding pain points, and using sales frameworks.
CRM and Tech Proficiency: Demonstrate mastery of common CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and sales engagement tools, guiding students in best practices for updating lead statuses, verifying data accuracy, and creating detailed sales reports within the CRM system.
Sales Campaign and Closing Support: Guide students through practical tasks like supporting sales campaigns, managing sales data and records. Students in the apprenticeship program will also focus on assisting more senior colleagues to close deals and track performance by reviewing critical documents such as sales contracts, quotation sheets, and performance reports.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (Preferred B.S. or B.A.): prefer candidates with a bachelor's degree in a field directly related to the account management, product/service sales (e.g., Business, Marketing, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, or a technical discipline).
